freelance photographer and winner of the Darmstadt Science Prize 2009

Lecture: "infoEXchange"
Wednesday, April 21st, 7 p.m. at the MUSEUM FÜR ANGEWANDTE KUNST, Schaumainkai 17, 60594 Frankfurt

The Wissenschaftsstadt Darmstadt and Engineering Region Darmstadt Rhein Main Neckar Stipend for Scientific Photography. Scientists and their vision of life.
The lecture combines an introduction to the stipend program and the photography competition "infoEXchange" with a presentation of the work of last year's prize-winner, Anja Behrens. Werkbundakademie Darmstadt uses the photography stipend to support young photographers after graduation in completing an independent project in the field of science over a longer period of time.

Anja Behrens (*1983), came from Stuttgart and studied Communications Design with a focus on photography under Prof. Dr. Kris Scholz and Prof. Michael Kerstgens in Darmstadt. While still a student she worked for six months as an assistant in westside studio in Toronto, Canada. Her graduation project was entitled "Kritische Gefilde" and was published, among other things, in Novum and received an honorable mention in three categories in the international photoawards (Lucie Foundation) before going on to win the Scientific Photography stipend in Darmstadt in 2009. "Kritische Gefilde" has been on show at the Darmstädter Fototagen, Fotofestival Zingst and the St. Petersburg Photo festival, among others. For her stipend, she produced portraits of scientists in the Rhine/Main region and symbolically presented their respective field by close-ups of their research work. Today, Anja Behrens lives and works as a freelance photographer and assistant nr. Hamburg.

The lectures will be held in German.
