n.stellmach Natascha Stellmach, photo media artist

Lecture: “Style sucks”
Friday, June 11th, 7 p.m. in the ART FOYER of the DZ BANK [KUNSTSAMMLUNG], Platz der Republik, 60265 Frankfurt, Entrance: Cityhaus 1, Friedrich-Ebert-Anlage

Contents instead of battle of materials
Taking their own work as an example, Boris Eldagsen (Germany) and Natascha Stellmach (Austria) show that using few materials but with a clear idea you can create strong statements. Away from representation, from surfaces, decoration, style and glamour & in favor of a deeper definition of what it means to be human.
After the lecture, Natascha Stellmach will sign copies of her art books The Book of Back and It is Black in Here.

Natascha Stellmach tells small, intimate and often somber stories, Her works spans photography, film and prose and explores the transience and inconstancy of human existence. In her oeuvre, the distinction between truth and poetry becomes blurred, with autobiographical elements and social commentary blending to a narrative steeped in essayist film. Her artist books The Book of Back and It is Black in Here visualize how Natascha uses words and images to create emotional arenas.
Stellmach's work is to be found in numerous international collections and has been exhibited at countless festivals and at institutions such as Fridericianum Kassel, Haus der Photographie Deichtorhallen, Hamburg, K¸nstlerhaus Bethanien Berlin, ACC Galerie Weimar, Fotogalerie Vienna, Biennale d'Art Contemporain Le Havre, The Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) Melbourne and The Australian Centre for Photography Sydney.
Natascha Stellmach (*1970) works in Melbourne and Berlin and is represented by Galerie Wagner+Partner, Berlin.

The lectures will be held in English and German.
