"No repetition".Monica Menez' work leaves no place for the illness called repetition. And it is hard to classify her staged shots. The focus there is not just on fashion, and her portraits are not just about faces, and the models are not simply beautiful. With her photographs, Monica Menez creates artistic havens in the midst of reality. Often she plays with optical illusion or reßection in a finely ironic manner. Her style always includes a special element of surprise. She stages precise shots, following the unwritten rules of spontaneity. Her work for young fashion labels such as Blutsgeschwister offers her the artistic scope she seeks. And Monica Menez need it, as she is constantly reinventing herself.

Workshop: "Fashion photography and staged shots"
Saturday and Sunday, August 21st and 22nd, 10 a.m. & 6 p.m., at the FFF Office, Weißfrauenstrasse 1, 60311 Frankfurt

Fashion photography does not just require technical precision in the lighting and camera work. I compare preparing a fashion shoot to preparing a great cake: The recipe forms the basis and all the ingredients have to be carefully calibrated. It's the same with fashion shots: Only the perfect interaction of model, styling, make-up, lighting and above all a well-thought-out concept culminate in a successful production. The workshop on "Fashion photography and staged shots" is intended to offer participants an insight into how to plan and design a fashion spread and then put these insights into practice.

Monica Menez (*1971) trained in photography and worked for several years as a press photographer before entering fashion photography in 2002. Her clients include magazines such as Madame, Blonde, style and the family tunes, Vision (China), Zeit Leben, Quest... Her work has been exhibited, among other places, at the Darmstädter Tagen der Fotografie, the PHotoEspaÒa (PHE) and Pulse Miami. Monica Menez lives and works in Stuttgart.
