Workshop: "More or less photography"
Saturday and Sunday, October 16th and 17th, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., at the FFF Office, Weißfrauenstrasse 1, 60311 Frankfurt
The goal of this seminar is to help you access the stage, which you are now in your photographic journey. Determining what is working for you, what needs to change drastically, what needs intensification. Lunsford will lead the group in analysing your images and discussing your own intentions. Different edits of each participants work will be worked on and reviewed. Lunsford will present other artists work, books and projects and consider what makes them appealing. Steps crucial to activate or improve your professional status in the arts such as presentation, selling, public relations and documenting your work will also be introduced.
This workshop is geared to engaged amateurs, professional photographers or anyone seriously considering a career in photography as an expressive form of communication.
Celina Lunsford's professional experience spans over 20 years of curating exhibitions, and writing on photography. Since 1992 she has been the artistic director of the Fotografie Forum Frankfurt. She teaches photographic theory and is published regularly as commissioned writer on the subject. Throughout her curatorial work at the Fotografie Forum Frankfurt she has published several books on international photography such as Fast Forward: Photographic Message from Korea and Women by Women, Eight Women Photographers from the Arab World.
In 2009 she was a facilitator at the Joop Swart Masterclass of World Press Photo Foundation, Amsterdam and is currently on the nominating committee for the Prix Pictet 3, award for photography. She is a member of the Oracle Conference of international photography curators, the Deutsche Gesellschaft f¸r Photographie, the Deutsche Fotografische Akademie and is a founding member of the Arbeitskreis Neue Bildsprache Lead Awards, Hamburg
In recent years she has juried for the Kˆrber Award (Kˆrber Stiftung Hamburg), the F-Stop Festival Emerging Talent Awards, Leica Photography Award, Hyeres Photography Award and European Central Bank Photography Award. In 2007 she was a facilitator for the ASEF (Asia-Europe Foundation) Forum for Photographers, Cork/Dublin. She is often Invited as a critic to festivals such as Houston Fotofest, USA; Photo Biennale, Thessaloniki; Odense Triennial, Denmark; Photo Espana, Madrid; Braga international Festival, Portugal; Fotofest Meeting Place Beijing; CONTACT Toronto Month of Photography; and the Photo-Book Festival in Kassel.
The workshop will be held in German.
